POULSBO
The Poulsbo City Council has approved a $464,000 contract to begin the first in-ground work on a new City Hall.
The bids came in 15 percent below the initial estimate, officials said.
Tri-State Construction, which is working on the Bremerton tunnel and Sea-Tac Airport's third runway, was the winning contractor in a process that drew six bids.
For about four years Poulsbo has been taking the long road to a new city hall, nixing old plans and developing new ones to keep the structure downtown.
The goal is to remove a building at the site on the corner of Moe Street and Third Avenue, and prepare the foundation. Work is expected begin in early September and will last five to six weeks. Construction on the main building is scheduled to start in December or January.
