UPDATE: 25-Year-Old Bremerton Woman Killed in Utah Crash

A 25-year-old Bremerton woman was killed in a rollover accident in Utah on Tuesday.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol in Millard County, Megan Roscoe was thrown from a truck that rolled after drifting into the opposing lane and then over-correcting. The crash occurred near the town of Hinkley, in central Utah. Troopers reported that she was wearing a seat belt, but that she had it on incorrectly. The driver of the vehicle, Donald B. Rivers, 26, was treated for injuries and released from a hospital.

Troopers said speed was not a factor in the crash.

A friend of Roscoe's said she was on tour with the Bremerton-based band Y.I.A., which had been playing shows through California, Colorado and Utah this summer. Roscoe was not a member of the band, but helped manage and coordinate the tour.

Roscoe was a member of the Bremerton group Artists for Freedom and Unity, which hosts concerts and supports local music. She was well-known among musicians and fans in the area, said Annie Hanks, formerly of Bremerton.

"A lot of kids 25 and under looked up to her," Hanks said.

Hanks said that Roscoe attended Renaissance High School and had worked at Zumiez at the Kitsap Mall.

More information will be posted as it becomes available. If you would like to share information about Megan Roscoe, e-mail the local news desk.

I'm sorry to hear about this accident. Thank you so much for supporting local musicians. We have some good ones in our area. Bless you and your family and friends left behind. You left this world far too early.

Donny was released from the hospital, and thrown right in jail.

Bremerton has lost a wonderful citizen. My daughter has written such an eloquent good-bye, I'd like to share with you:

"Its a weird feeling to realize just how quickly someone can disappear from your life. Whether it be simply a bridge that's been burned, or they are gone for good.
And on top of it, to see the way someone impacted your life and just how huge that impact was, it makes it even harder to swallow.

A familiar face in the crowd, and welcoming arms wide open. An optimist and realist, and a reason to get excited when seeing that smiling face. There from the beginning and always knew just what to say. She probably never would have known it, but she changed my life in a huge way.

Subhumans playing, she pulls me to the side and her words to me, "I can see it, you're the next generation. The next generation of kids who give a damn, I'm proud of you. Its rad, keep it up." And you know something? She was right.
She had it exactly figured out, and she knew it. She had her eye on me and my sister for a long time, she kept her word and watched out for us whenever she saw us. She knew what we were all about and always had news to tell me. She genuinely cared, and it showed.

To have known someone so incredible was an honor. Leaving behind nothing but the best memories and the greatest times, Bremerton has definitely seen the impact of an amazing soul. She promoted all that was positive, and with that said, would probably have wanted her mark on the world to be just that.
As the day goes on, I see just how many peoples lives she affected, and its breathtaking. One person really can change a lot.

I am going to be eternally grateful for having the chance to know her and to know that even though she really was, she never thought she was too cool to talk to me. She gave everyone an equal opportunity, and from day one, I admire the way that she led her life. I regret never getting the chance to tell her.

Megan Roscoe, you were a huge part of this town, and you're going to be missed by a lot of people. But like they say, Legends Never Die. That meant a lot to me before, and it means even more now. Your heart is going to forever beat in this town."

Adorable little Megan, I watched you grow from an eccentric teenage girl with bright red hair into an amazing young woman with a heart of gold and soul to match. My heart wrenches for your family and all who knew you. Andy, we should get Megan's song for D-Monastery published and out for others to hear.
In her memory...

We have all lost something precious, her smile lit up the day. Always there, supporting the local music scene, its incredible to see the outpourings of sympathy for the loss of Megs and the support for Donny. Megan was like a daughter to me and the love she had for my son and our entire family will impact us forever. You are gone but never forgotten Megs, you're forever in our hearts.

Dearest Megs,
You were one of the brightest and most loving lights to ever shine within my life and I'm sure that each of your friends feel exactly the same way that I do in this way. You will always be loved by us and forever missed. I am incredibly fortunate to have spent time with you playing guitar together and sharing so many great shows as we did.
Love,
James
